June 2018 - Summer FUN!

June was very busy, but oh so fun. Lots of traveling, lots of laughter, and lots of special memories.

On the road again...stand-still traffic as I head out of the ATL...

Sweet Home Alabama!

Happy Birthday to me! Traveling to AL for a family event!

Best lunch ever!

It's a baby shower!
My baby sister is welcoming her first baby in July, so we gathered in early June to celebrate her and the impending arrival of baby boy Toby!

Sisters and our mom...

A family emergency changed our plans and after Haydn's baby shower I got on the road back to GA. The next day the boys and I headed towards Ozark, AL for the first week of training for me and my Alabama social studies team.

Being a goober in the car on the way to Alabama...

Sweet brothers heading into the school where mommy had to set up for the training week.

Playing rough = a bump on the noggin...

A week in a hotel means unlimited pool time!

Swimming like fish!

Doing a little block building after dinner in our hotel room...

Snoozing it up!

A little tank, airplane, dinosaur, shark, and Iron Man fun!

Sweet little boy...

He set up a new battle on the air conditioner unit...

Gotta have an agenda for a summer training day...

Working hard on a vocabulary strategy...

More swimming time for the boys after a long day of training for mommy. A helicopter flew overhead and they both watched until it was well out of sight...

When there's a dirt pile, you climb it...

Playing hard = exhaustion!

Decorations on the dash of the car...

RF decided to decorate his window, too.

A long week out of town calls for a relaxing bath...

Being silly...

On June 10, RA and I celebrated having met 13 years ago at a mutual friend's wedding. I pulled some photos of us together in those early days.

Headed to dinner to celebrate my 21st birthday!

Walking along Mobile Bay...

Getting a kiss while exploring Fort Morgan...

To celebrate our 13th 'Met Ya' anniversary, we decided to make a trip up to Black Rock Mountain State Park in north GA.

We weren't in the car 10 minutes and this one fell back asleep...

This one talked our ears off and played with his airplane for the entire ride...

Can't travel with the Hawks without stopping at an antique store...

Pretty good advice...

View from the top of Black Rock Mountain...

Brothers...

He's getting so big...
Selfie with the view!

Daddy and his babies...

He's my person...

Pretty mountain flowers...

Riding the back roads of the park with the wind in his hair...

View from one of the overlooks in the park...

He loves his daddy...

Black Rock Lake...

Quackers!

A road trip with the Hawks also always involves a stop at Waffle House...

I've been listening to this podcast the last few weeks and its really, really good. Lots of perspectives and insights from lots of different people.

When you clean out and organize the drawers in your kitchen.

We joined the local YMCA a while back and since it's summer I can attend more of the day classes, so my first choice was to make sure that their three day a week yoga class fit into my schedule.

And BodyPump...

Beagles on watch! If a squirrel walks by or the wind blows a leaf down the driveway, they are here to alert us.

CRAZY kid...

My kids don't have a fidget-spinner, but I've seen my students with them. This is definitely mommy's fidget-spinner...

A little line tracing practice...

A little letter writing practice...

Gorgeous afternoon swinging in the hammock reading while the boys play...

Wandering through downtown...

Hanging out at story-time...

The sweetness of summertime...

Post-dinner family TV show...

Waiting at the barber shop to get a little haircut...

I had to bribe him with a gumball to get him to sit still...

Handsome and a gumball...

Resting on a bench downtown after getting their haircuts...

Yep. You're reading that right. It was 126 degrees one day when we got in the car...

RF has become a LEGO guy. He was proud of himself for building these without any help. He followed the directions and produced some cool creations!

Sweet Gussie...

While doing some yardwork, the boys found a bird nest on the ground and brought in inside to show me...

Hanging out at the local car dealership because...

Mama bought herself a new car!

Father's Day breakfast for RA...

RF wrote "Daddy" on the one on the bottom. It is so cool to see him be able to write words...

These two little thumbodies love their daddy!

See? He's getting so good at writing!

Ellis wrote his name, too. I helped him with the E, but showed him how to write the two L's, the I, and the S and he did those on his own.

When you're going to be out of town, you have to make sure your hubby eats a healthy lunch so you pack it ahead of time and label each one for him. Pitiful, right? :-)

A few puppies snuggles...

Loaded up and headed to Alabama for my second week of training with the social studies team...

10 minutes into the ride and Ellis was asleep...surprise, surprise...

We met Meme at Chick-Fil-A for lunch and then I headed to set up at the school and Meme and the boys headed out to play.

He loves the park!

Daredevil...

Exploring the a little stream near the park...

Lounging at the hotel with Meme...

A shopping trip to Winn Dixie led to the boys finding these little carts and they thought they were the coolest things...

Just doing a little shopping. RF even asked the cashier if the buggies were available for purchase because he wanted one to take home.

Doing a little hot tub swimming...

Ellis is my grape-eating, tv-watching buddy...

Playing LEGOs in bed...

Some of the coolest folks I know...

Meme took the boys back to Winn-Dixie. RF thought going to Winn Dixie was a tourist attraction with the little buggies...

A rainy day called for some indoor play time at a local indoor playground...

Brothers wrestling...

  Peek-A-Boo!

  Having a blast!
BIG SMILES when Meme buys you a new Hot Wheels truck...

We got on the road after the last day of training and were super excited to see this sign as we made it back to GA!

GRUMP.

SMILES.

RF got it in his mind that he wanted to make homemade lemonade...

So we did...

And it was really good. RF sold this glass to his daddy for $5.

Relaxing with my boys...

Celebrating our anniversary with mini red velvet cupcakes...

A month of traveling results in tons of LAUNDRY...

Sunday afternoon water hose fun!

I think he was having fun...

Lots of laughter and smiles...

He tried to sneak up on his daddy, but his daddy saw him and got him good with the water hose!

Baby birds waiting on their mama for their dinner...

Watching a little soccer while we wait at the car dealership for them to detail my car...

Headed to the gym!

Working in mama's classroom and chowing down on doughnuts...

Morning snuggles with my oldest and the beagles...

A few changes to the mantle...

Making it a little more summery...

He said, "I made you a birthday cake, mama!"

Minimal mess dinner...

RF and I attended a family gathering in Albany on Saturday. He was so excited to spend some time at Uncle Bob's house in the woods...

And swing on the rope...he's already asked his Babu and his daddy to hang a rope in one of our pecan trees for him to swing from...

Building a fort with his cousins...

We had to get back home that evening, but managed to make a pit stop for gas and a little Chick-Fil-A + ice cream...

Sunset on our way home...beautiful...

We're ringing in July (how is it already July?) by savoring the last few weeks of summer as we celebrate Mr. Ellis's 4th birthday, I travel to Houston, TX  to present at a conference and then I am back to work July 23. School is back in session for both boys on August 1, so the next few weeks will involve getting our back to school supplies ready for a Pre-K and Kindergarten student!
