2018 - Week Twelve Photos

Is it Spring Break yet??

My two kiddos definitely have Spring Fever and I the only reason I'm functioning is because of the amount of coffee I'm drinking. March, April, and May for teachers are break-neck-speed with a million and four things that have to be accomplished to round out the school year.

Like I said, is it Spring Break yet???

Monday, March 19 --- Helpful

He might cause things to move at a slower pace, but he tries to be helpful when daddy is working on projects.

Tuesday, March 20 --- Gold

RA has a heart of gold. He has to if he's going to let RF and the dogs sit on him like this while he tries to read the newspaper.

Wednesday, March 21 --- Funny Face

Wednesday afternoon ice cream treat and a funny face to go with it...

Thursday, March 22 --- Similar

They sleep the same way and both came wandering into our bedroom sometime early this morning to snuggle with their mama and daddy.

Friday, March 23 --- Nature

Friday afternoon evening outside found that the azaleas in the front yard are blooming quite nicely. FINGERS CROSSED that the cold blast this week doesn't get them...

Saturday, March 24 ---Rainbow

We attended a local Easter Egg Hunt and RF was SO EXCITED about the sea of rainbow colored Easter eggs on the front lawn just waiting to be picked up...

Sunday, March 25 --- Affection

These two, y'all. They can't do anything without the other. Such sweet puppies.

Have a great week, friends!

2018 - Week Eleven Photos

Monday, March 12 - Laughter

Monday Night Book Club = a big slice of cake, a glass of wine, and lots of laughter :-)

Tuesday, March 13 - A Sign

Last Friday an elementary student who was waiting with his parents to pick up his sister from school started climbing the tree outside my classroom window. We started writing him notes on paper, asking him how his day was, telling him he was a good tree-climber, etc.  He went to his parents car and grabbed his notebook and started showing us his drawings (really good drawings!). After the bell rang for the school day to end, a few of my students went out the door by my classroom and spoke to the kid. He told them that we had made his day because he didn't have any friends at school. :-(

So, we decided to leave him little notes attached to my window for him to read each day, hoping to brighten his day. We're posting a new note every few days and have told his sister (a student here at EHS) to tell him to take a peek at our window if he comes with his parents to pick her up from school again. Taking the time to brighten someone's day is always an acceptable lesson in schools across our country, in my humble opinion. It wasn't on the lesson plan, but it was certainly a teachable moment.

*The white arrows on the photo mean nothing. I covered up last names for a few students who accidentally wrote their last name on the note.

Wednesday, March 14 - Lucky

I'm lucky that I have a husband who works to find the antique pieces that I want for the house. This vintage ironing board will be turned into a shelving piece for our laundry room.

Thursday, March 15 - Vehicle

Thursday morning drive to work surprise --- CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD. Thank goodness for car insurance...

Friday, March 16 - Leprechaun

Lucky the Leprechaun visited RF and Ellis's class at school on Friday! They thought it was so funny to see all of the mischievous things Lucky did in their classrooms.

Saturday, March 17 - Shamrock

A shamrock cookie from a conference I attended Friday and Saturday. :-)

Sunday, March 18 - Singing

We're singing 'Happy Birthday' in the Hawk house today as our sweet beagle puppies turn 2!

Have a great week, friends!

2018 - Week Ten Photos

Monday, March 5 - 6 O'Clock Hour

The 6 o'clock hour for the boys and I involved this gorgeous sunrise Monday morning on our drive to school...

Tuesday, March 6 - A Number

2031.
The class of 2031.
Y'all. I'm registering my first born for kindergarten...

Wednesday, March 7 - Quote of the Day

Because you can...

Thursday, March 8 - Handwriting

The Hawk family's handwriting...those two lines to the right of the "k" in Hawk on RA's signature are Ellis's attempt to write his name.

Friday, March 9 - Adventure

RF accompanied me to the EHS vs. NHS baseball game at Coolray Field Friday night. We had so much fun! He did really well until about the 5th inning. Then he started to get antsy, but we stayed the whole game (EHS won!).

Saturday, March 10 - Something That Makes You Smile

A few hours at the salon for a cut (took about 5 inches off) and color (gotta get rid of those pesky gray hairs) always makes me smile. :-)

Sunday, March 11 -Baby Picture

Family photo. Each of us at 24 hours old.
From the left --- RA, H, RF, and E

2018 - Week Nine Photos

Mid-Winter Break was so much fun, but this week was back to reality for the Hawk family. :-)

Monday, February 26 - Out the Window

Looking out our back window - bird feeder, bird houses, swing, flowers, and of course two little boys riding their John Deere. :-)

Tuesday, February 27 - Flowers

Flowering peach trees in our backyard! Spring is on its way...

Wednesday, February 28 - Kind

This kid is so sweet and kind. As I dropped him off for school today he said, "Mommy, wait!" I turned around to see what he needed and knelt down to his level to talk to him. He put his hands on both sides of my face, looked me square in the eyes and said, "I hope you have a really good day, mommy."
MELT. MY. HEART. :-)

Thursday, March 1 - Clock

Antique mantle clock in our living room.

Friday, March 2 - Breakfast

Because it's Friday...that's why.

Saturday, March 3 - Beauty

Beauty in nature...
We spent Saturday in NC and stopped in to see Bridal Veil Falls in the Nantahala Forest outside of Highlands, NC.

Sunday, March 4 - Passion

I'm passionate about supporting my students in their extra-curricular activities...especially when those activities involve Thin Mints! These two boxes came home with me Friday and third box stayed in my desk at work for those days when the only thing that will melt the stress of life away is a Thin Mint. :-)

Hope your week is a great one! Thanks for checking in on us!

February 2018 - Candy and Smiles

Photos, photos and more photos of the Hawk family throughout the month of February. Enjoy!

Playing in a box...

Playing in a box together with his brother...they are such goobers.

One of my students is in our horticulture class and they were learning about flower arranging. Their teacher told them to create an arrangement for a teacher and she chose me. Such a sweet kid.

Stacking cups...just because...

Puppies + a warm fire = complete comfort

More cup stacking...

Yet again...

A stacked cup city...I think he's a little obsessed...

Then he arranged them in a pattern. He loves patterns.

February 2018 Valentines from the Hawk boys...

Writing his name on his Valentines for his friend...

2018 Valentine box for RF - a Valentine pirate ship...

Saw this at Michael's and thought of RA...

Our AP Language students are reading Columbine, so I decided to join in and read it to. It is an amazing book looking at the why question of this horrible moment in our country's history. I've been jumping in on their Socratic seminars, too. Kids are so insightful and I have thoroughly enjoyed hearing their thoughts.

FIELD TRIP for RF! Meme came in town early so that she could accompany her favorite five year old grandson.

Didn't he do a good job writing his name? I'm so proud of the progress he has made in his writing this year!

Ripped pants.
#boymom

Stacking boxes of Nerds this time...

I had to make a quick trip to Alabama and was so excited to be headed home crossing the line back into Georgia.

Ellis had been gone for a week at Nana's and when he got home he wasn't interested in taking a photo with me. Stinker.

It's never a bad time for a popsicle.

:-) I taught this student in the over seven years ago. It makes me smile so big when a former student posts something that they remember from their time in your class.

I have a little bit of grading to do...

Valentine's card to Handsome Husband. He's pretty cool.

The candy monster is eyeing the candy as we make the candy necklaces.

Candy necklaces for Ellis's class...

Candy necklaces for RF's class...

After a hard day at work, sometimes you need some chocolate to decompress...

Decked out in red + wearing their candy necklaces! They were so excited!

My Valentines!

Showing off his Valentine box to his class.

Showing off his Valentines, too...

A wishing flower...

Make a wish, sweet boy...

Narcissus is sprouting!

Cutie in a hat!

Enjoying an afternoon at the park with Meme!

Saturday morning coffee and a beagle...

And now two beagles...

The boys decided the stripes on my sheets were rows for their garden. Yes, we can grow donuts, chocolate chip cookies, fried chicken, and pizza (as well as fruits and vegetables, of course) in our garden.

Riding the escalator at Phipps to go to....

LEGOLAND!

So excited to see Miniland! It was pretty incredible - an entire replica of the major ATL attractions made out of Legos.

Baseball stadium...

Taking a look at the downtown area...

Capitol building and the GA Aquarium!

GA Dome...

Stone Mountain!

MARTA!

Legos, legos, and more legos!

Slide time!

Happy as can be...

Such a fun-filled smile...

Crazy kid...

Lego giraffe!

And a bigger one that he said needed a hug...

Lego puppy. RF said it looked like Gus...

Building with Meme!

Ellis had to sit on the Lego giraffe, too...

PIRATE SHIP! You should have seen RF's face - he was SO EXCITED!

Lego crabs...

Having fun wandering through the climbing area of the pirate ship!

Captain Robert and Co-Captain Ellis

WATER TABLE!

He loved these jets that pushed the Lego boats down the table.

Building a new Lego boat...

Happy as can be...

Temper-Tantrum from the 3 year old at LEGOLAND. We had to excuse ourselves to the restroom to get it together.

Nope. Not ready yet...

Finally got it together and took a minute to look out the big window that overlooks the mall...

More building - this time they were building a castle...

Working together to build...

Ellis gave up and came to sit next to me, but RF and Meme kept right on building...

Time to press a penny!

Such a strong boy!

After reading Green Eggs and Ham with Meme, he decided he needed some Green Eggs for breakfast...

Playing with his new planer...

Family movie night...

Sweet Gracie girl...

He LOVES his Gus...

A beagle hiding on my bed...

Spring is coming --- daffodils are popping up all over the yard...

Hyacinths, too...

The before was so pitiful. I decided that this space needed a face lift, so between my mom and I coming up with some ideas and then Mrs. Margie helping me to get it to come to life, I like it SO much better.

ENT appointment for this little one. Tonsils and adenoids coming out in the next few weeks.

They. Love. Her. So. Much.
And she loves them a ton, too. :-)

The Twelve Oaks Bed and Breakfast where RA and I enjoyed a night away...

Time for a fun night on the town with my handsome husband...

In need of a haircut!

This one, too!
Think he can poke that bottom lip out any further?

All cleaned up and looking adorable...

A big boy haircut for our big boy!

Obligatory photo in front of the barber shop. Too bad the sun was in their eyes.

Such a beautiful courthouse...

We swung by daddy's office to show him their adorable haircuts...

It isn't summertime yet, but these two eat popsicles year round.

Gus loves to cuddle...

How Gus slept Friday night after I was away the night before. He loves his mama.

Sweet brothers. RF was comforting Ellis because he was sad that Nana and Babu had to leave to go home.

Because some times you need to pretend you're a dog and see the world from their perspective...

Take-out dinner down at the fire pit...

Silly boy...

Flowering peach trees are in bloom!

Backyard fun!

Sweet Gracie girl...

This kid is a hoot!

My late night guard beagle while I was working on a late night crafting project for the boys in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday on Friday, March 2!

Busy, busy, busy March for the Hawk family! Thanks for checking in on us and our crazy life. :-)
