March 2018 - Springtime and Sunshine

Um, how is it the end of March? Wasn't it just Christmas? We've been busy this month having lots and lots of fun!

Check out our January and February updates for the Hawk family, if you missed them!

Here's what we did this past month...ENJOY!

Green Eggs and Ham hats!

HBD Dr. Seuss!

All smiles ready for a FUN day at school!

Full Moon...my teacher friends know what that mean...
 C.R.A.Z.Y school days...

We made a trip to the north GA mountains this month to pick up a piece of furniture (imagine that...) and wandered over the NC line to an antique salvage store + wandered to see a few waterfalls.

Happiness!

JUNK sign made from "junk"

So much to see and sift through...

We pulled over to take a look at the view (and get me out of the car - I get so motion sick on those curvy mountain roads) and the boys decided wander a bit and pretend that they were Park Rangers - Ranger Robert and Ranger Ellis.

Ellis collects acorns (among other things - he's a Hawk - a bit of a hoarder) and was very impressed that we found a branch with a few acorns still attached!

A beautiful view of the mountains on our way to Highlands, NC...

A YUMMY burrito at Pescado's in Highlands...

While the rest of us ate, Ellis played with his school buses. The impact of his refusal to eat will result in an EPIC meltdown later in our day.

Chowing down on some cheese dip and quesadilla...

First stop --- Bridal Veil Falls!

Bridal Veil Falls allows you to walk underneath the falls and the boys ventured out to enjoy the view from behind it.

BEAUTIFUL March day and a beautiful view of the waterfall!

Photobombed by daddy!

Selfie at Bridal Veil Falls...

Icicles!

Buckled the kids in the car (right next to where we were standing...no worries) and managed to get a selfie with the hubby...

Beginning of the meltdown...
Ticked off.
Mad.
Frustrated.
Angry.
All of the above.

Selfie at Dry Falls!

Dry Falls, NC!

The boys at Dry Falls! Ellis managed a smile for a few minutes...and then his meltdown continued (hit epic levels) once we got further down the path to the waterfall...

Just doing a little exploring!

Meltdown from E ensued which encouraged us to get back to the car and get him strapped into his seat for, hopefully, a chance to nap. Refusing to eat + tired = temper tantrum from the three year old.

Both boys fell asleep (as did I) while we drove to pick up our newest piece of furniture.

Mama deserves a treat for dealing with the three year old today...

Swinging with handsome husband...

Enjoying the sunshine while the kids played in the yard...

Gracie hung out with me at the swing, too...

And then the beagles (on their leashes) joined the rest of the family for a little walk (run) around the yard.

We ordered in dinner and spent the evening relaxing...mama was TIRED.

Swinging, swinging, swinging...

Homemade creamy gnocchi soup...

A boy and his dog...

Gorgeous sunrise!

How in the world is it time for this???

The boys made a little craft for the grandparents...

RA served as a Mystery Reader in RF's class...RF was SO surprised and very excited to see his daddy!

EHS played NHS at Coolray Field, so RF accompanied me to root on the Eagles. We had a fun night hanging out, just the two of us.

He was pretty enamored with it all...

Feeling a million times better after a trip to the hair salon!

Because sometimes you just need to sit in the swing, read a book, and have a nice glass of wine...

Antique dry sink RA found for me - I absolutely love it! It's making a nice addition to our kitchen.

I was out of town for a few days this month in Alabama and this was the sunrise over the resort. So pretty.

Every resort has a bagpiper, right?

After a long day of meetings, I veged out with a few reruns of NCIS and this big bowl of nachos...

Amazingly yummy breakfasts at the meetings, but man am I glad I don't eat like this everyday. So full.

LUNCH!

I missed my boys...

Happy Birthday, Gus and Daisy!

Another find RA bought for me...a vintage ironing board to go in my laundry room.

Helping daddy work on the bed rails...

Lounging beagles. This is pretty much all they do.

Just a normal Monday...

Homemade quiche for a quick weekday breakfast...

Another note for our elementary school friend that stops by my window at school every few days to say hello and climb the tree outside my classroom.

The way Gus tells me he's hungry...

Birds have found the bird feeder on the back window...

One of RF's pieces of artwork from school.

Scooter time!

A little driveway practice for Mr. Ellis...

Azaleas are BLOOMING!

Farm week at school --- a worm. Ellis was not excited about it...

But he LOVED the baby ducks!

Time to open a savings account for RF! Unfortunately I forgot his social security card, so we are headed back next weekend to try again.

Almost there!

Time for an Easter egg hunt!

Butterfly craft...

Coloring his butterfly...

RF with the Easter bunny. Ellis wanted no part in the photo. At all.
As we were walking up to take the photo RF said, "That's just a disguise, right mommy? I mean, seriously - no bunny is THAT big." He makes me laugh EVERYDAY!

Easter egg caterpillar craft...

Time for E to hunt some eggs!

Picking them up two at a time!

RF's turn!

Scooping them up as he continues running!

Post-Easter egg hunt smiles!

And silly faces...

Easter egg hunt was over ten minutes ago and these two decided to go wander through the flower beds and pine straw just in case they missed any candy filled eggs!

Checking out their loot!

Working together to help mama and daddy finish the bed...

RF's pumpkin patch with a rainbow and airplanes flying overhead...

Lookin' sharp for Palm Sunday!

Putting our mark on one of the bed slats...

It is up! And Daisy is not happy...

Neither is Gus. They both sat there for a good five minutes looking at the bed, then us, then the bed, then back at us trying to figure out how in the world to get in it...

Gracie is just as confused. The bed is a good 3 feet tall. A little high for some overweight puppies to jump up on...

It looks SO GOOD!

Their daddy is a push over, so he picked them up and put them in the bed.

All made up and photographed in the daylight...

See that little beagle nose peeking over the footboard? Gus learned he could jump up on the blanket chest at the foot of the bed and look over the footboard. Can he jump over the footboard, though?

He can stand on it...

Yep! He can jump over it! Now he knows exactly how to get in the bed to snuggle with his mama and daddy...

Working on treats for RF's spring party at school. You think Ellis had some ice cream before working on this craft project?

RF, too! Chocolate ice cream all the way around their mouths...

Butterfly treat bags - some with Goldfish, some with Fruit Loops - and each one colored by RF and Ellis...

Bunny pudding cups for Ellis's class...

He LOVED them!

These two are very in to Magic School Bus! Brings back memories of my childhood...

I had to work on the day of spring parties for the boys, but RA had the day off, so he surprised both boys by showing up! RF was so excited!

A sweet note from two sweet kiddos on the Friday before Spring Break...

Nasty cough has this little guy doing a few breathing treatments...

"I'm an alien, mama!"
Well, ok then. You're an alien, Ellis.

Table is set for Easter lunch. Plates are part of a set of china that belonged to my great-grandmother...

Pretty weed-type flower in the backyard...

Dogwoods are in FULL bloom and not a cloud in the sky...

Camping out!

Ellis and I relaxing by the fire!

Hamburgers and hotdogs for everyone!

And s'mores, too!

Cutie in mama's hat...

RA reading a book to RF and E before heading to bed. We all slept outside in the tent all night! RF work up once cold, so RA went and got more blankets for us. He also got up early to cook us a yummy Easter morning breakfast - bacon, eggs, and biscuits. And piping hot coffee for mama. After a night sleeping in a tent with my boys, I needed it.  :-)

April is here and we have quite a few things going on including Spring Break for me, a trip to VA for RA and I next weekend, a trip to NC for me, my mom, Mrs. Margie, and Aunt Gale, and Spring Break for the boys. Thanks for checking in on us!
