2007, 2012, and 2014

.June 23, 2007 –  1+1 = 2

October 24, 2012 – 2+1 = 3

August 2014 – 3+1 = 4

That's right, folks --- we are expecting Baby Hawk #2 --- ETA = August 18, 2014.

On Christmas Eve we found out we were going to have a new addition to the family and scheduled our first appointment for December 30. Our first ultrasound was on January 10 @ 8 (almost 9) weeks. Video of our first ultrasound is below.

Our second appointment today showed that all is well - heartbeat was 166 bpm.

I had intentions of doing a weekly belly photo or post when I was pregnant with RF, but I suppose the excitement of being pregnant for the first time didn't allow me to sit still long enough to answer any questions, so I decided that I would document our weekly progress with Baby #2. Weeks 7 - 12 are detailed below.

How far along? 7 weeks on December 30

Baby is the size of…a BLUEBERRY!

Maternity Clothes: Nope, although I do love a good pair of exercise/yoga pants.

Stretch Marks: Still have leftover ones from RF’s pregnancy… I consider them a physical reminder of the amazing strength of my body and am therefore not ashamed of them…I am sure I will be adding a few new ones with this pregnancy.

Sleep: No problems – I LOVE to sleep.

Best Moment Last Week: Seeing ‘pregnant’ on the home test. I will admit that I was in shock for about an hour - two babies under 2…wow!

Movement: Too early

Food cravings: Chicken salad croissant from Delish – indulged in that today after our appointment.

Gender: No clue…not even a feeling as to what it is.

Labor Signs: Nada

Belly Button – in or out?  In

Wedding Rings – on or off? On

What I Miss: Enjoying food. I do love to eat and I am not really interested in food at the moment, unless I get a craving. Then I am hell-bent to indulge. I never really had cravings with RF, more aversions than cravings, but this pregnancy is all about the cravings. I am trying not to indulge every craving, but sometimes that spoonful of icing right out of the container just hits the spot.

What I Am Looking Forward To:  Experiencing this pregnancy along with RF. I am super excited to see him grow and understand what is going on as we get further along.

Milestones: Telling our family today – everyone is super excited for Hawk #2!

How far along? 8 weeks on January 6

Baby is the size of…a RASPBERRY!

Maternity Clothes: Nope.

Stretch Marks: No new ones yet…

Sleep: No problems – I LOVE to sleep. I want to nap all. the. time.

Best Moment Last Week: Sharing the news with someone outside of the family. I told our school nurse just in case anything happened at work and she was super excited for us. I love that look people get when you tell them you are expecting – yay for babies!

Movement: Too early

Food cravings: Chick-Fil-A and sweets…lots and lots of sweets. Brownies, ice cream, candy bars...oh the yumminess if I could just eat sweets all day.

Gender: No clue…not even a feeling as to what it is.

Labor Signs: Nada

Belly Button – in or out?  In

Wedding Rings – on or off? On

What I Miss: Being able to go more than 2 hours without having to go to the bathroom. As a teacher, I have a trained bladder since I only have a break at certain times of the day, but this baby doesn’t seem concerned with that at all.

What I Am Looking Forward To: Leaving the nausea behind. With this pregnancy I have had nausea ALL. DAY. LONG. Very different from RF’s pregnancy.

Milestones: We’re two months along…seven more to go!

How far along? 9 weeks on January 13

Baby is the size of…a GREEN OLIVE!

Maternity Clothes: Nope, but definitely beginning to feel bloated/pregnant. Woke up one morning last week and thought I saw a bump! Didn’t start showing until 14-15 weeks with RF, guess this pregnancy may be different in that regard, too. I did go ahead and dig out my bella band as I am sure I will be using it here soon.

Stretch Marks: No new ones yet…

Sleep: No problems – I LOVE to sleep. I want to nap all. the. time.

Best Moment Last Week: Ultrasound last Friday and hearing Baby Hawk #2’s heartbeat – 150 bpm – looking strong and healthy. Next appt. is Friday, February 7.

Movement: Too early

Food cravings: Still want Chick-Fil-A for every meal…

Gender: No clue…not even a feeling as to what it is.

Labor Signs: Nada

Belly Button – in or out?  In

Wedding Rings – on or off? On

What I Miss: I miss having a consistent mood. I am fine one minute and balling my eyes out the next. Much more emotional this pregnancy than RF’s – I got teary-eyed last week at work while my students said the Pledge of Allegiance…

What I Am Looking Forward To: The cold/rainy weather getting out of here. I am FREEZING. Mobile cold is a bone-chilling cold. I definitely wore long johns to work a few days…not ashamed to say it at all.

Milestones: Eating a decent sized meal and not feeling super nauseas. Maybe the nausea will subside with this pregnancy earlier than it did with RF.

How far along? 10 weeks on January 20

Baby is the size of…a PRUNE!

Maternity Clothes: officially wore my bella band this week…here we go

Stretch Marks: No new ones yet…

Sleep: so far, so good – I just flip flop from one side to the other all night long trying to get into a comfortable position – my long body pillow helps, though.

Best Moment Last Week: RF spending time with his Nana and Babu in Perry. He LOVES his grandparents. I cannot wait for this baby to enjoy spending time with them as much as RF does.

Movement: Still too early, I think.

Food cravings: I still want sweets. I made a whole cake in Perry this weekend and could have eaten it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was delicious.

Gender: No clue…not even a feeling as to what it is.

Labor Signs: Nada

Belly Button – in or out?  In

Wedding Rings – on or off? On

What I Miss: Not crying at the drop of a hat…I cannot believe how emotional I am with this pregnancy. The simplest things send me over the edge…seeing a photo of a newborn on my FB newsfeed, hearing of a high school classmate who had a recipe published in a major southern magazine, even catching up on reading some of the blogs I subscribe to…everything. makes. me. cry. Darn hormones…

What I Am Looking Forward To: Telling everyone our exciting news!

Milestones: Successfully made a 675-mile round trip drive with a 14 (almost 15) month old at 9 (almost 10) weeks pregnant.

How far along? 11 weeks on January 27

Baby is the size of…a LIME!

Maternity Clothes: Pants are definitely snug – thank goodness for my bella band.

Stretch Marks: No new ones yet…

Sleep: All good. We finally (yes, finally @ 15 months…) have RF sleeping though the night. I suppose he knew that with another baby on the way, mama needs some good, solid sleep.

Best Moment Last Week: RF can say ‘baby’ (it sounds like bee-bee) and a few times this week he would point at my stomach when I asked him where the baby is. So sweet. J

Movement: Felt a few flutters of quickening this week…exciting!

Food cravings: Still wanting sweets. Lots. Of. Sweets.

Gender: No idea, still.

Labor Signs: Nope.

Belly Button – in or out?  In

Wedding Rings – on or off? On

What I Miss: Having energy. I didn’t get back to feeling somewhat normal until 14 weeks pregnant with RF. Really hoping that I get my energy back sooner with this pregnancy. I’m sure part of my lack of energy is due to no caffeine + chasing around a toddler who is interested in everything.

What I Am Looking Forward To: Our next appointment is less than 2 weeks away – Friday, February 7 – hoping to hear that strong heartbeat again and announce our big news.

Milestones: Starting to show! Trying to hide it until our next appointment, though.

How far along? 12 weeks on February 3

Baby is the size of…a PLUM!

Maternity Clothes: Still rockin’ the bella band. I did pick up some maternity clothes at a recent consignment sale, though.

Stretch Marks: No new ones yet…

Sleep: Sleeping well, although I am usually a stomach-sleeper, so going back to being a side-sleeper is not my favorite thing in the world.

Best Moment Last Week: Napping curled up on the couch with my little boy. I couldn't help myself from thinking about how it won't be the three of us for much longer and while I am uber-excited about baby #2, I am pretty nervous about being a mom to two. I made a promise to myself to be sure that I continue to spend quality time one-on-one time with RF (and RA) as I make this huge transition.

Movement: A flutter every now and then, but nothing consistent.

Food cravings: HOMEMADE sweets. Nothing boxed or ready-made, I want the REAL stuff.

Gender: No ideas.

Labor Signs: Nope.

Belly Button – in or out?  In

Wedding Rings – on or off? On

What I Miss: I know I’ve mentioned it already, but I am completely exhausted at the end of the day. And I know taking care of a toddler + being pregnant = lack of energy, big time, but I really do miss feeling like I am well-rested, which is bizarre to me because I am sleeping better than I have in 15 months. I am hoping my nightly yoga session will get me back into some ‘me’ time and allow me to recharge.

What I Am Looking Forward To: Our next dr. appt. where we will hopefully find out Baby Hawk #2’s gender and moving out of the first trimester!

Milestones: Officially announcing the arrival of Baby Hawk #2 and so excited that I don't have to try and hide it anymore - this baby belly is getting big fast, folks. :-)
