New Year, New Challenge --- August 19 - August 25

Third full week of school --- check! Ready to conquer the fourth full week as it leads us into a much needed three-day weekend!

52-Week Blog Challenge --- Week 34 - My OCD Habits
I'm not completely OCD about anything really. My house looks like it is lived in - sometimes there are piles of laundry (many times there are piles of laundry), sometimes there are dishes piled up in the sink, the baseboards need cleaning + re-painting, the kids have a messy, played-in room, and there's dog hair everywhere because we have dogs that shed all - the - time. My car is pretty much the same story.

A few pet peeves of mine though...
- laundry that gets thrown down next to the laundry hamper instead of into the laundry hamper
- dirty dishes that get set down next to the sink instead of put into the sink or into the dishwasher
- snack wrappers that get left lying around instead of put into the trash can
...I think you get the picture...it drives me nuts, but in the grand scheme of things, I think we're doing pretty good.

Sunday, August 25

The okra in our garden is producing TONS this year...we can't pick it fast enough...so RA decided to pick some early this morning and go ahead and fry it while it was cool outside (65 here this morning when we woke up) while he also cooked our Sunday tradition of sausage gravy and biscuits.

Cheers to a great week, friends!

New Year, New Challenge --- August 12 - August 18

We made it through the second full week of school and are spending some time today prepping for the next full week - making lunches, setting out clothes for each day, prepping after school snacks, dinners, and packing my gym bag. Busy, busy, busy Sunday afternoon.

52-Week Blog Challenge --- Week 33 - My Biggest Dream In Life
To live my life in a way that positively impacts others - my husband, my kids, my students. It's that simple folks. Do I have dreams related to my marriage, my children, and my work? Of course! But, those dreams first and foremost are centered in me wanting to be the best version of myself. If I focus on that, everything else will fall into place as long as the most important relationships in my life are on solid ground.

That is one of RF's molars...he had a toothache about 2 weeks ago and a trip to the dentist showed that his tooth that cracked when he fell and busted his chin back in 2016 had re-cracked enough for a little bacteria to get in and cause an infection. He had to do 10 days of an antibiotic and then we had to go back in for the dentist to pull the tooth and put in a spacer as his adult molar won't come in until he's 12 or so. Not the most fun afternoon, but he did much better than I thought he would. A few days of rest + a container of ice cream will have him back to his energetic self.

Friday, August 16

With RF staying at home to rest after having his tooth pulled yesterday I had to bribe Ellis in order to get him out of the house, so I promised him an early morning adventure with mama to get a donut before school.

Gardenias always bloom around my birthday in early June, but the past few days there have been a few last minute blooms before fall sets in...

Sunday, August 18

Of all of the magazines we subscribe to, this one is definitely my favorite. We love Maine. Love, love, love it. We are counting down to our trip next summer!

Thanks for checking in on us! We wish you and yours a great week!

New Year, New Challenge - August 5 - August 11

We survived our first full week of both kids in school! And we've welcomed our first cold of the school year into our home with both E and RF sneezy and snotty...yuck.

52-Week Blog Challenge --- Week 32 - The Best Part of Each Season
Spring - Flowers in bloom
Summer - Time off from work to spend with my family
Fall - Cozy sweaters and warm fires
Winter - Snow! It's not often that we see snow in GA, but when we do I LOVE IT!

That is a stuffed animal opossum...however, our Friday morning began with Gus bringing in a LIVE, REAL baby opossum and dropping it on the floor in our living room. The rascal was so proud of himself and the lovely gift that he brought to his mama that his tail was just a wagging! Luckily, RA had not yet left for work and was able to get it out of the house. A opossum, y'all!

Saturday, August 10

We were supposed to head down to Lake Blackshear for the family reunion, but Ellis was up and down all night Friday night coughing and sneezing. Saturday morning revealed a fever, so resting on the couch was the order of the day for my littlest one.

Sunday, August 11

It was a tough week, but I spent some time reminding myself of all of the things in my life that I'm thankful for while working on to-do lists and lesson plans for the upcoming week.

Thanks for checking in on our little family! Have a great week!

Catching Up --- New Year, New Challenge - July 22 - August 4

What a busy past two weeks! The last week of summer + the first week of school made us super busy, but I'm finally taking a moment to catch up. With everyone getting back into a routine (and all on the same school schedule - HALLELUJAH!) we are figuring out our new normal with two kids in big school s

52-Week Blog Challenge --- Week 30 - Social Media Phenomenon
Social media is no-doubt a phenomenon...I wish more people would use it for good instead of bad, positive instead of negative. It's an amazing tool to keep people connected, but too many people use it for negativity and hate. I've come to the realization that I can't scroll through my social media accounts everyday. Number one, I don't have the time and number two, it makes me sad and anxious. Instead I tend to post things I want folks to see, check out family and friends who have commented on my posts, and checking a few groups and pages that spread positivity.

52-Week Blog Challenge --- Week 31 - Time Management
As a busy wife, mama, and teacher I have to keep myself organized. There's always something going on in our family so my calendar is my best friend. And by calendar, I mean an old school paper calendar. I'm a tactile person - I like to write things down and see whole weeks/months at a time. I put a few things in my phone as reminders, but my paper calendar (and it's a five-year planner) is always with me.
