Summer Activities --- June 1 - June 5

In addition to our more structured daily schedule, each day of the week this summer the boys and I are focusing on a different task.

Make Something Monday
Take A Trip Tuesday
Wet and Wild Wednesday
Thoughtful Thursday
and Fabulously Fun Friday

For the week of June 1 - June 5 our activities and tasks included...

Monday, June 1 --- Make Something Monday --- Paper Roll Binoculars!

Well, as you can see from the photos below, we ended up doing a totally different art activity...

We started out with our paper towel rolls, colored them, and put a few stickers on them, but as soon as the two individual paper towels rolls were taped together to form one pair of binoculars, RF lost his mind. He was not a happy camper at all, so our paper roll binoculars craft turned into a totally different craft (leaf art and celery stamping --- which he really liked) once he had a chance to work through his emotions. Whew...two-and-a-half/almost three-year olds are tough. to. handle. sometimes. :-)

Stamping, or as he called it, "stomping." Each time he put the celery to the paper he would say, "Stomp, stomp, stomp."

Fern leaf...

Some celery stamp art...

He enjoyed using different colors and created about ten different works of art over the
course of an hour or so...

Tuesday, June 2 --- Take A Trip Tuesday --- Fort Conde and the Museum of Mobile!

After breakfast I packed up my two little fellas and drove the five, literally, minutes down to Fort Conde and the Museum of Mobile. RF had a blast roaming around both locations and Ellis enjoyed a nice ride in the ring sling taking in all the sights and sounds and kicking me quite often as he tried to get down to chase after his brother.

Fort Conde

"I found a pirate sword, mama."
Well, maybe not a pirate sword, but definitely a sword. :-)

Wandering through the fort...

As he walked along the top of the fort and saw all of these cannons lined up together he said, "Incredible."

Stopping for a snack in the main hallway of the Museum of Mobile...

RF catching his first glimpse of Marianne...

"Mama, that fire hydrant looks like a dog."

Of course he found a ship...he stood and stared at it for quite a while...

Wednesday, June 3 --- Wet and Wild Wednesday --- Swimming at Lola's House!

I had a meeting Wednesday, June 3, so the boys hung out with Lola all day and then we all had dinner at Lola's house Wednesday night and the boys got in some swim time.

Happy boys and a happy Lola!

Mr. E checking out Lola's flower beds...

This one is a BIG fan of the water...

This one, not so much. He likes it, but is moving into the stage where he is scared of it if he can't touch the bottom or if water gets in his face.

So, he stayed on the steps...

While daredevil Mr. E went out into the pool with Lola...

But E still managed to do just what his brother was doing and crawled along the steps.

Thursday, June 4 --- Thoughtful Thursday --- Write a Note to the Grandparents!

A few art supplies and sheets of paper and RF and JE went to town decorating a note for their grandparents. Grandparents, if you're reading this, be surprised when you receive it in the mail this week. :-)

Brother working together.

Fabulous Fun Friday --- Friday, June 5 --- Trip to the Park in Spanish Fort and an Ice Cream Treat

Well, it started out as a great adventure. And then RF got upset that Ellis wanted to play in the splash pad and not the playground part. So, our Fabulous Fun Friday didn't last too long, but the time that they were each individually playing in the part of the park they enjoyed, was great! And since we were approaching melt-down mode from RF, I chose to for-go the ice cream treat. Maybe next week.

Slide!

Sweet brothers playing together...

Trying to do what brother was doing...

Oh, yea, mama. This is my kind of fun!

Got that tongue out again and trying to catch the water...

Lots more fun planned for this upcoming week as we try and make the most of our last summer here in Mobile. :-)
