2018 - Week Thirty-Six Photos

Another busy week for us that involved some traveling. The next month is pretty calm though, so we plan on enjoying some time at home and hope that some fall weather will be showing up soon - it's HOT in Georgia.

Monday, September 3 - Labor Day Naps

I love napping. I especially love napping with this little snuggle buddy of mine.

Tuesday, September 4 - All About Me

Ellis finished his second homework assignment!

Wednesday, September 5 - Writing Words

We're only a month or so into the school year and it is absolutely incredible to see how much progress RF has made with writing and reading.

His e's are so funny to me...

Thursday, September 6 - Grandparents Day Lunch

He was SO EXCITED that Nana came to eat lunch with him in honor of Grandparents Day!

Friday, September 7 - Grump

Driving to Perry Friday night and RF was grumpy that it was taking "657 hours" to get to Nana's house...

Saturday, September 8 - Fort Conde Inn

RA and I drove to Mobile on Saturday morning to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday with a surprise party. We stayed at the beautifully restored Fort Conde Inn. We remember walking our dogs through Fort Conde Village when this house was in extreme disrepair. It is so exciting to see it restored and to see downtown Mobile thriving like it is. The Born to Celebrate campaign (great job, Papa!) has done so much to showcase the beautiful city of Mobile.

Sunday, September 9 - Traveling Beagles

After picking up the kids and dogs in Perry, we made the drive back to Covington and once we were a mile from our house these puppies popped up and started barking their heads off as they knew they were almost HOME!

Thanks for checking in on us! A full blog post about our fun weekend in Mobile will be up sometime this week. :-)

August 2018

Our weekend away + a lazy Labor Day has me a few days behind on posting our monthly post.

Our first full month of the 2018 - 2019 school year is behind us! Onward into September we head. We enjoyed spending the month fine tuning our routine and making sure we were handling the newness of both kids being in big-kid school.

August started out with the first day of school --- a full blog post about the whole day is here.

These photos capture the essence of RF and E in the mornings perfectly. RF wakes up ready to go and E is...let's just say...not a morning person.

A HUGE grin as he was so excited about his first day of Kindergarten!

"Take the dang picture, mama. I'm not in a good mood."

Confident as can be...and ready for the adventure of school!

His teachers finally got him to give a First Day of School smile...

A helicopter helps, too...

He decided to curl up in my lap and take a nap. I was trying to get some work done, but I didn't mind at all...work can wait.

Studying a wasp that I caught in the house before we released it outside.

LEGO building...

SWEET and HANDSOME brothers...

The children's sermon one Sunday was all about communion bread, so they mixed up the ingredients and then baked it throughout the remainder of the service and we got to use the bread during communion! It was so cool. And the kids were allowed to take home the leftovers.

Muscles, mama!

Guard dogs...

Brother and sister...

Two peas in a pod. Lazy as can be...

RF has his own little space in my classroom since he arrives at school each afternoon before we dismiss for the day...

And he keeps a toy - stuffed animal, LEGO creation, train car, etc. - on my printer to have to play with when he gets to the school. I like being able to look at it throughout the day...

Evening story-time...

I don't even know...He was posing for us I guess?

Boys and dogs curled up watching a movie...

More story-time, but this time with a specific purpose. RF is learning (by having his behavior corrected) that he cannot talk whenever he wants to at school (imagine that...he loves to talk...), so I ordered him a book about learning how to control his talking. Seems to be helping. He still has days where he has to have it corrected (he is five, after all --- I sometimes have to be reminded not to say everything that comes to my mind...).

Hanging out at mama's desk one afternoon...

This kiddo completed his first homework assignment!

He learned something at school...#eyeroll

Learning sight words! I told him to circle the word 'see' and he did!

A big ole' pile of stuffed animals on his bed with him...I think he has an obsession...

More lazy dogs...

There's nothing much better than a rainy Saturday afternoon...

Homemade cupcakes? Yes, please!

He loves to help...

A little afternoon reading while we were headed to pick up Ellis from school...

Somebody was super excited about attending the Cub Scouts informational meeting...he decided its something he wants to do, so we are encouraging it.

This is what my evenings look like...grading with a beagle right next to me...

A whole week of smiley faces...this mam will take it!

Some mornings you just have to lay down and chat with your dog...

A trip to the barber shop to get this boy cleaned up...

And this one, too!

Sticking his tongue out at his mama...

Homemade chicken burritos...

Eleven years ago this month this sweet angel came into our lives...

Wearing daddy's coat at dinner one night...

Sweet boy...

Fish and chips - yes, please!

"These lobster tails are delicious, mama!"
Um...ok...I'm glad you like your french fries...er, lobster tails?

Hiding from us...

Spin and Strength...dang weights...

When your big brother helps comfort you when you are sad...

What a day...mama needs ice cream...

Long Mountain Lodge in Dahlonega, GA!

Lots and lots of fun for the Hawks over the next few weeks and months as we usher in fall + the holiday season!
