New Year's mantle...that stayed up until the first weekend of February...
Yes, I know it's February, but the beginning of 2017 has had us busy. We've been hanging out as a family and enjoying some down time from the craziness of the holiday season. Photos below detail the first few weeks of 2017 for the Hawk family in Covington.
Looking out at the "snow" that fell in Covington...
Definitely NOT impressed...
Can you see a snowflake or two? No? Me neither...
Being confined to the house for a few days while the weather was super cold had everyone going a bit stir crazy. Even the dogs...this is their handiwork.
And, so is this...I wish I could say that it has gotten better, but I came home today to more destruction in the house...good news is I may be getting the carpet replaced sooner than expected as the dogs decided to begin ripping it up for us...
After a few days of cold weather, the boys were ready to JUMP!
They LOVE their trampoline...
RF playing with his favorite gear set...
Ellis has begun to enjoy playing with them, too...mainly when RF is playing with them...and by "playing" I mean stealing them from his brother's gear creation...
Homeboy helped himself to a container yogurt and proceeded to come sit in my bed and eat it...
He is at a "test the waters" stage, but he is so stinkin' cute...
Mr. Sweetness...
Mr. Happiness...
A few weekends ago RA had to pick up some wood for a project in Columbus, so the boys and I went with him and we stopped by the Civil War Naval Museum. We had a Happy Meal picnic before heading inside to see "really cool stuff" according to RF...
Checking out the canons...
Inspecting the canons with daddy...
They were told to keep their hands behind their backs while they were in the museum - we do not touch things in museums to which RF replied, "Some museums you can touch in, mama. Like that museum we went to in Alabama (the Gulfquest Museum in Mobile)." Memory. Of. An. Elephant.
"What's the navy, mama?"
"It's a branch of the military, RF."
"The military, huh. I should give a salute then, right?"
:-)
Checking out the model ships...
Boy fest...
RF and Ellis wandering through...
Ellis immediately noticed the flags...
Hands behind his back...
And again. He can be such a rule follower (and a rule breaker, too)...
Checking out the artifact conservation area...
Checking out the guns and swords...he is his father's child...
Wandering around the Water Witch outside the museum...
Walking along the banks of the Chattahoochee River...
My people...
My person...
A little nightly reading...The Little Engine That Could...
This kid turned 2.5 this month...headed towards the big THREE.
A rainy morning = blanket fort time...
I got sick at work one Monday morning and decided to stop by the urgent care where I was diagnosed with the FLU. Who has time for that? Thankfully, Mrs. Margie and Mr. Joe came and got the boys and took them to Perry for a few days so that I could recover and not risk spreading it to them. Gracie snuggled me the whole time. Three straight days in bed was torture for me --- there's only so much Netflix you can watch and so much sleep you can get before you start to loose it...
A little Saturday morning cartoon time, Liberty's Kids (that's Benjamin Franklin on the screen). Everybody's kids watch history cartoons, right?
Blue skies = after school PARK TIME!
When I asked RF what he had drawn during art time at school he said, "We obviously it's raining donuts, mama." Yes, son...yes - it's raining donuts...
RF found an app on the iPad where I had recorded him cooing and babbling as a baby and a recording of one of my favorite lullaby's that I used to play for him while he was drifting off to sleep. He played the recordings over and over again and said, "That lullaby is beautiful, mama."
More PARK TIME!
He LOVES the slide!
This one loves to RUN!
Valentine's mantle...
Snuggling beagles...they may look cute and innocent, but I assure you - it's a trick...
They are quite patient with the boys. Ellis decided to pile his stuffed animals on top of the dogs one afternoon...they just sat there, but I'm pretty sure I saw Gracie roll her eyes...
Kid is obsessed with Star Wars. He has his light saber and is working on the AT-AT walkers (the chairs)...
Starting to work on our Valentine treats for the boys' class parties at school. Mr. Ellis decided to line up the Star Bursts in a nice little row...
RF stacked the juice boxes and organized the chocolate candy...
Star Bursts and Ellis kept going missing...and I found THIS KID underneath the table with a pile of wrappers from where he was stealing the candy, hiding to eat it, and leaving the evidence under the table so mama wouldn't see it. Such a little rascal...
BIG MAMA SCARE this week. I received an emergency call at work that RF had fallen at school and was being taken to the emergency room. When I arrived, he was calm, but had a major laceration underneath his chin...
"They glued me back up, mama. I'm like humpty-dumpty." Yep, buddy, they glued you right up...
A little swollen and really sore, but he managed to handle it like a champ...
Post-emergency room snuggles with mama...
You can lay in my lap anytime, little man...
The puppies kept him warm and snuggly...
After a trip to the dentist to be sure there wasn't any jaw bone/tooth damage, he picked out a new Paw Patrol toy at Target.
The rest of February is pretty clear and includes a whole week of the boys and I hanging out together while we are on Mid-Winter Break and then a weekend away for RA and I to St. Augustine, FL followed by a Sister's Weekend in Birmingham at the beginning of March. :-)
Thanks for checking in on us! Hope all is well with you and yours.
