The Beginnings of the Holiday Season 2016

November and the beginning of December have been full of F-U-N for the Hawk family. We've spent time together enjoying Thanksgiving and the beginnings of the Christmas season, too. We've decorated our house, made a trip to the zoo, taken Christmas card photos, and watched TONS of Christmas classic movies.

2016 has been good to the Hawk family and we are so excited for what 2017 will bring for our little family. :-)

Celebrating Christmas on the Square in Covington!

The Hawk Family...excuse Ellis's hands in his mouth, not sure what that's about...

I started Monday morning of Thanksgiving Break with coffee in bed with a certain beagle boy...

A trip to our local antique/thrift mall found Mr. Ellis ANOTHER giant Mickey Mouse...apparently one giant Mickey Mouse is not enough for this Mouseketeer...

RF's sweet smile...

RF's pout-pout face...

RF's 'I'm trying not to smile' face...
RF's 'I didn't want to smile, but my mama made me smile' face...
 RF's 'I'm a goober face"

For those that don't know, Ellis Hawk is a candy fanatic. If you look carefully, there's a bag of Hershey's kisses on top of RA's dresser that Ellis has spotted. When I told him NO, he decided to solve his own 'I need candy' problem and move his rocking chair closer so that he could reach the candy...such a stinker boy...

Table set for Thanksgiving --- Mr. Joe and Mrs. Margie joined us this year...

We started some Christmas decorating, too.

Christmas card photos...

 Such cute little boys...

Outtakes...lots of those with these two little ones...

Mr. Ellis playing with the star...

RF making a silly face --- nothing new!

 Such a happy boy...

 This one is happy, too.

2016 Christmas tree --- I had to put it in the corner of our dining room this year as we still have boxes and furniture scattered throughout the library/front foyer (where I hope to put it next year) and I couldn't put it in our living room because two active, beagle pups would have destroyed it.

Nana put us a small tree in the living room for the boys, complete with homemade ornaments and our Santa Cam...

Just Because flowers RA had delivered to me at school.

 Happy, train-loving boys...

RF, Ellis, and I made a trip to the ATL Zoo over Thanksgiving Break...

The morning started out COLD and WINDY...

Taking a closer look at the animals...

A big, ole' lion --- it was his birthday, so his enclosure was decorated for the occasion...

 A gorilla...

A sleepy, ole' bear...must be kin to Ellis...

A trip to the zoo isn't complete without a train ride...

Happy boys on the train ride...

He looks so grown-up to me...

Having fun on the playground at the zoo...

Brother, too...they LOVED the playground area...

RF at his 4-year old dr. appt. Such a big boy who was not excited, in the least, about the shots he had to get that day. His sarcasm and humor came out upon our leaving the office...

Ellis has started the potty-training process (and is doing really well for a not-yet 2 1/2 year old), so RF got a special 'Big brother helping little brother potty train' present --- a gigantic Destiny (from Finding Dory). In this photo, he was rocking her because 'she wasn't feeling well and rocking her will help her feel better.'

Working on their teacher Christmas gifts...

 Such big helpers...

 Finished teacher gifts...

Rudolph brownies for RF and Ellis's Christmas party at school...

A whole bunch of Rudolph's ready to be inhaled by toddlers and preschoolers...

 Pajama day at school...

Sweet story --- we made a trip to Nana and Babu's house last weekend and when it was time for bed one night I asked Ellis (who was carrying his gigantic Mickey) if he was going to sleep with me. He said, "No mama. I sleep with Nana and Babu." I replied, "Ok, but I'm sad. I'll be scared." He walked up, handed me Mickey Mouse and said, "Mickey can sleep with you, mama. He keep you safe."
Swoon... :-)

Exploring Aunt Cricket's backyard that leads down to Lake Blackshear...

Four of the eight grandsons hanging out along the water's edge...

This kid LOVED Aunt Cricket's dock, watching the rain and fishing...

 This kid LOVES his Babu...

Enjoying the afternoon rain on the dock...

Rain doesn't stop this boy from fishing...

 A happy boy...

Ellis got in on the action, too...

A boy-fest hanging out and fishing...

 Happiness...

Three of the grandsons waiting on their big catch (that never came...the fish weren't biting on Sunday afternoon)...
Mr. Ellis made friends with Uncle Charles...

And Ellis enjoyed playing peek-a-boo with Mrs. Whitney...

On the way home to Perry, we stopped by the house in Perry that has TONS of Christmas lights and decorations --- we rode by THREE times...

He is so energetic, but can also be so sweet. Our last night in Perry, RF said he was ready to go home and see his daddy because he missed him. I found him putting his hand on RA's photo from law school graduation in Nana's guest room...

Everybody makes their own train with the chairs/bar stools while watching Thomas, right?

This week has brought lots of crafting as we worked on Christmas gifts for folks...

I was putting the boys down for a nap one afternoon when RA called me from work and said that Santa was at his office for an event and asked if I wanted the boys to see him. Thankfully, they weren't asleep yet and were SUPER excited when I told them we had to go to daddy's work to see Santa. RF ran right up and gave him a BIG hug before sitting down with him and telling him what he wanted for Christmas.

Ellis was a little more hesitant, but eventually warmed up to him and I managed to get one cute photo before he started being shy...

Our older dog, Gracie eats breakfast and dinner in a separate room from the beagles and every morning and evening, they sit at the door to the room where Gracie is eating waiting to check out her bowl and make sure she ate everything. I don't let them or the beagles or the boys in while she eats. RF wanted a toy from his room, so he joined the beagles waiting patiently until she finishes so that they can enter...

 Front porch decorated for Christmas!

Our Christmas Eve festivities include cookie-baking, present-wrapping, movie-watching, hot chocolate drinking FUN.

Merry Christmas!
