A Morning Walk and RF "The Photographer"

RA and I decided to take the boys and all three dogs on a walk this morning. We drove the short drive to Oxford College and set out to enjoy the morning before the heat became too unbearable.

RA was in charge of the puppies. I was in charge of Ellis and RF was in charge of Gracie.

The puppies enjoyed themselves --- wandering and smelling. Gracie wandered too, mostly without someone holding her leash (cough, cough --- RF), but luckily she isn't one to run off. Why wasn't RF holding her leash, you ask? Well, because RF believes himself to be a budding photographer wanting to photograph everything.

Photos taken by Mama...
My boys and their puppies heading out on a little walk...

Beagles walking nicely on their leashes...

Photos taken by RF....
A caterpillar/slug thing...

"I wanna take a picture of your foot, Ellis."

"I'm taking a photo of my own shadow, mama!"

This one really was taken by RF --- not too shabby of a photo...

And then he took a photo of this random flag and drain cover...

And this tree trunk...

And this hair tie...

And that "cool fan looking thing"...

And this Tweety-bird lanyard...

"Look how pretty this grass is, mama!"

He's a budding photographer, for sure. :-)

A Mickey Mouse Party!

Our littlest man turned two last week --- TWO! We spent his actual birthday together, hanging out and had a small, low-key get-together last Saturday. Happy Birthday, Ellis!

His morning began with the traditional breakfast --- cinnamon rolls in the shape of a "2"!

Apparently, Ellis was upset that I hadn't started decorating for his party yet, so he took it upon himself to begin the process...

Headed for birthday lunch, indoor playground time, and ice cream at Chick-Fil-A...

Yummy!

Such a cutie...

Wednesday night we had a pasta dish for summer (Ellis LOVES noodles) and finished our family meal off with some Mickey Mouse brownie cupcakes...

After we sang Happy Birthday to Ellis, RF reached over and said, "Happy Birthday, little brother. Happy Birthday." Heart. Melting. Into. A. Puddle. All. Over. The. Floor.

Cheesing it up for the camera --- COVERED in cupcake...

Saturday afternoon we hosted a small get-together for family and a few friends.
Nana and Babu got Ellis's slide set up...notice that cute shirt? TWO spelled out in Mickey Mouse fabric --- MOMFAIL - it lasted all of about 5 minutes before the letters started peeling off. Not sure what I did wrong, but it was cute while it lasted...

This kid LOVES his sandbox...

Time to eat! The banner is the only crafty thing I make for birthday parties --- turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself...

Present time! Of course RF wanted to help, too.
A cool Mickey Mouse book and figurines from some friends...

And a GIANT Mickey Mouse from Meme...

A Melissa and Doug wooden school bus toy...

New shirts...

Fighting over, uh, I mean, playing with the new toys...

Motorized riding toy from Nana and Babu!

He LOVED it!

Taking Mickey Mouse for a spin...

Time for Happy Birthday and CAKE!

Chowing down...

An afternoon spin around the driveway...he definitely knows how to make it go, but he hasn't quite learned how to steer it...

And of course his big brother had to try it out, too...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ELLIS! We love you so, so, so, so much!

Happy Second Birthday, Joseph Ellis!

Ellis,

You. Are. TWO!

Two.

It is almost unbelievable to think that you are already two years old, yet it is incredibly hard to remember what life was like before you came along and completed our family.

We love you so much, Ellis Hawk. So, so, so much.

What all have you been up to this past year? Let's take a walk down memory lane...

- You LOVE being outside - digging in the dirt, playing in the sandbox, collecting rocks, going for a walk, swinging, checking the mail and bringing in/taking out the flag with your daddy, digging in the dirt, watering the garden, and swimming in your pool. And now that we have a doggy-door, you enjoy climbing through it to get to your happy place --- OUTSIDE.

- STREP THROAT. Ugh. You've had strep throat quite a few times this year, but seeing as it was your first year in school, that is to be expected, I suppose. Mama does not like seeing you sick, my little man.

- You've given up your ba (pacifier). Well, you didn't have much of a choice considering that Gus chewed them all up. Seriously - every single one was destroyed within a week's time.

- Speaking of Gus, you've welcomed two new puppies into your life - Gus and Daisy. Gus is definitely your dog. You are two peas in a pod.

- You are still enamored with your brother. Anything he does, you think you can do.

- You moved into a new house in a new state and town, you visited both the beach and the aquarium for the first time this year.

- You enjoy singing (You Are My Sunshine and Wheels on the Bus are your favorites) and dancing (the NCIS theme song is your jam!)

- You made your first trip to Athens, one of your mama and daddy's favorite towns, to wander North Campus and chow down on Little Italy.

- You're all boy and have had a few ouchies this past year as a result of your dare-devilness - a bloody eyebrow from climbing and a bloody nose from falling off your bed.

- You are a fruit loving kid --- strawberries, blueberries, grapes, banana, apples, and watermelon.

- You also REALLY LOVE not-so-healthy treats --- cupcakes, cookies, popsicles, ice cream, and milkshakes.

- You enjoy art time - painting (you love handprint art), coloring with markers, although you have recently begin writing on yourself/walls/furniture more than the paper...

- You had your first visit to a real pumpkin patch in the fall and a strawberry patch this spring, the GA National Fair, and an experience with "snow". Although "snow" in GA wasn't lots of snow, just a light sprinkling, but you enjoyed it none-the-less.

- You love sleeping and have an infatuation with wind chimes.

- You can't seem to get enough of wrestling and rough-housing with your brother.

- Car rides are now somewhat bearable because you love to look out your window and up to the sky shouting to me when you see the moon, an airplane, or birds.

- Mickey Mouse is your favorite. And monkeys, too.

- You are full of fire, sometimes a rule breaker, and are insistent upon doing things your way.

- You have the sweetest voice and are forming sentences, "Hey mama bird"when talking to the mama bird that was sitting on her nest above our back door, "Where RF" when you want and can't find your beloved brother, and "Ellis needs milk" when you are thirsty.

- You love to ride in the little, red wagon, drink from the water hose, and take selfies with your mama.

Happiest of birthdays to you, my son. Happy, happy, happy birthday.

Love,
Mama

The Middle of Summer 2016

In between all of the traveling this summer, the boys and I really have had TONS of fun. It's incredibly hard to believe that teachers in my school system go back to work next week and that my boys are two weeks from beginning the 2016 - 2017 school year, too. This summer has flown by, but it's not over just yet --- we still have some fun to be had!

Climbing onto the top of his car...

Cooling off in the pool...

Pomegranates growing like crazy on our pomegranate tree...

Tomatoes are coming in, too. We've also got okra, watermelons, peppers, and squash...

We've played with a lot of trains this summer...these two boys are really in to trains...

And these two puppies are growing like weeds --- four months old already. This is their favorite spot to park their little butts while I cook dinner every night...not very convenient for me...

Dump trucks, cloth diaper, and mud boots --- he's good to go. I'm surprised he has a shirt on - he's in a bit of a 'naked' phase where the less clothing he has on, the happier he is.

FRUIT loving kid right here --- peaches, strawberries, bananas, apples, blueberries, grapes, etc.

Nana and I took RF to see Finding Dory...first time to see a movie in the movie theater and stay awake the entire time...

He was so excited!

Taking it all in while waiting to go into the movie theater...

Enjoying the Icee and the movie so much!

Their favorite afternoon activity...

Misbehavior = time out.

Cups on his arm pretending to be a transformer...

A little more time out time...he's at that age where he is PUSHING the limits...and learning about consequences...fun times, fun times.

Resting with Gus...

Sweet Daisy girl napping in my arms...

Climbing a tree!

Happy as can be...such boys...

Water from the sprinkler + dirt = MUD!

Lots of mud...

Covered. In. Mud.

RF and I took Nana, Babu, and Ellis to the Georgia Aquarium...RF and I have been before, but it was Nana, Babu and Ellis's first time...we had a blast!

RF brought me two paper towel rolls this morning and asked me to make him a pair of "noculars, please."

FISH!

WOW - look at the fish, Babu...

I love this photo of the two of them. Ellis is enamored with his Babu. Nana, daddy, RF, and I do not exist if Babu is around. He LOVES his Babu!

We found a shipwreck, mama!

A whale shark...RF loved these since one of the characters in Finding Dory is a whale shark --- Destiny. As we walked through the gift shop, he picked out a stuffed whale shark, named her Destiny and has had her in his hand all day.

He got tired of standing, so he plopped himself down on the floor to take a closer look...

TANK the turtle...

Seriously, Ellis LOVES his Babu...

A horrible photo, but you can see the wonder on his face...he was amazed at the aquarium. I cannot believe this kiddo will be TWO in five days...five days, my friends. Five days...
