Rainy Sunday in Mobile
As we unloaded the last few boxes off the truck, it began to rain. Mobile has a routine - summer days about two in the afternoon we usually get a little shower. Considering how hectic the last few weeks have been, being able to just sit and watch the rain is a form of therapy. As I am writing this, the dogs have snuggled up next to each other for a nap and Mr. Hawk is enjoying one of his favorite weekly activities - watching a John Wayne movie.

Leaving Athens
Thursday, May 27 and Friday, May 28: Packed the moving truck. Sold a house. Officially finished my first teaching assignment - which was a little more bittersweet than I expected it to be. Drove 450+ miles to Mobile.
As the next chapter of our lives begins, we are sad to leave the first town we called home together. Thanks Athens for a great time. We'll be seeing ya...

A trip down memory lane...
As the boxes are piling up in the house and the moving truck has been booked, the reality of moving is setting in. As I was driving home from work yesterday, I was thinking back over the last three years. Here are a few of the highlights.

A trucker's life...
Saturday, May 22 at 4:45AM Robert and I set out on an adventure. Our destination was Harrodsburg, Kentucky - Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill. Our route took us from our home in Athens, into the North Georgia Mountains, through a portion of North Carolina, into the Great Smokey Mountains, Gatlinburg, Knoxville, and finally arriving at our destination in Kentucky.
Once we arrived at Shaker Village we spent a few hours wandering back in time to a much different life - one of simplicity and symmetry.Symmetrical...

Once we arrived at Shaker Village we spent a few hours wandering back in time to a much different life - one of simplicity and symmetry.
19 hours, 750 miles and three tanks of gas later, we arrived home from our trip. Sunday was spent recovering from such a long day (i.e. being VERY lazy).

The end of the beginning...
Well, we are within a week of packing up our life in Athens and moving back to Mobile. I have a feeling it is going to be a bittersweet moment as Athens has become home over the past three years. After getting married in June 2007, we moved to Athens in July. Robert began law school and I began my first teaching job. We bought a house and added a third dog to our family. This town has been a great deal of fun and while I am excited about starting a new chapter of life, I am truly going to miss our life here.
